Located 12 km from Fier, Apoloniais one of the most well
known archeological sites in the Albania which is founded in 588 B.C. and lived about 1200 years. In Roman times, Apolonia was a large prosperous city and its highest development had 60.000 inhabitants and had an area of 140 ha. Among the objects that may visit from the tourists are: Ancient religious and commercial central group of buildings and the Roman buildings; Bouleuterion (Hall of Athletes), Odeon, Big Colonnade, Theater of Greek era, Acropolis, Fountain of Cephissus, Small Acropolis, Monastery and the church of Saint Mary, Museum of Apolonia. Unfortunately, some of the statues and other portable objects were removed before 1946 and sent to other countries.
